KVMRT SSP Line – Underground Work Package, 13.5km
Client: Mass Rapid Transit Corporation Sdn Bhd (MRT Corp)
Product used: CostX 6.5 R1
Project: KVMRT SSP Line - Underground Work Package, 13.5km underground, 11 underground stations.
Value: RM 13 Billion
Timeframe: March 2016 - December 2021
Client’s Requirements
Having completed KVMRT Line 1, MRT Corp required a more robust design coordination with better control over discrepancies and constraints to increase productivity and efficiency in the delivery of the SSP Line. MRT Corp implemented BIM Level 2 requirements focusing on the use of common data environment (CDE) hosting all design information managed under a stringent workflow, therefore improving collaboration between project parties.
MGKT’s contributions
Our company worked very hard towards achieving certification of BIM Level 2 Prepared Capabilities in August 2019 by the Building Research Establishment (BRE) Global UK. Internally, we use CostX as one of the many tools to communicate costing with design information and internal planning, including updates and revisions. We also tested the potential of running simulated programme and cost projections alongside other construction software. We believe CostX is part of a greater BIM solution in the field of construction delivery.
Making the Difference
CostX significantly increases the speed of repetitive quantification works compared to traditional methods. In 3D model interaction, it serves as an effective visualisation tool, particularly important in dissecting components for costing. A defined process within CostX’s model mapping functionality coupled with the use of coordinated / validated information hosted on the projects CDE can then lead to the ability to track changes through the automation of quantification techniques as opposed to a more traditional method of measurement. This solution has proven to produce consistent output whilst maintaining flexible customisation.
