Family-owned SME chooses RIB Software

Schneider Bau GmbH & Co. KG is a family-run company with offices in Merxheim, Emmelshausen, and Mainz, Germany. Now led by Michel and Johannes Schneider, the mid-sized construction firm employs nearly 200 people and boasts a proud 95-year history.

Operating across the Rhine-Main, Rhine-Neckar, and Rhine-Saar regions, the firm covers the full property lifecycle—from development and planning to construction, facility management, and ongoing maintenance. Efficiency and cost-effectiveness are central to every project, with a strong focus on sustainable construction.

New software for large projects with complex requirements

“As our projects have grown in both size and complexity, we’ve had to realign our estimating and commercial processes to match the scale and structure of our holding company,” explains Managing Partner, Michel Schneider. “Our previous ERP system could no longer keep up.”

Together with his brother Johannes, he searched for a solution that would meet these demands and offer a simple and logical interface. They chose RIB 4.0, combined with RIB iTWO and RIB Finance.

“Germany’s largest construction companies rely on RIB Software,” adds Michel Schneider, explaining the firm’s reason for selecting RIB.

Reliable and user-friendly

Johannes Schneider already knew ARRIBA, RIB iTWO’s predecessor, from past use and valued its reliability for cost estimation. The same is now true for RIB iTWO at Schneider Bau. Employees appreciate the time saving it offers, especially for billing.

Looking ahead, the company plans to switch to BIM-based estimating with automated quantity takeoff. “Unlike many mid-sized firms, we do our own planning—so this move makes perfect sense,” says Michel Schneider.

Implementation across the business

Implementation of RIB 4.0 and RIB Finance is underway. Project setup—including preparations for procurement and tendering—is being rolled out, and customer master data is being transferred. Michel Schneider has closely reviewed the software and was impressed by how intuitive it is. The team has been able to pick it up quickly, thanks to a system layout that feels familiar—much like working in Excel.

Full integration by end of 2025

The implementation is in full swing with RIB Finance being rolled out across departments and integration with DEXPRO document management system underway. The management team aims to complete their first year-end closing using RIB by the end of the year. All commercial processes—from procurement to project controlling—will be migrated to RIB during 2025.

“Overall, our experience with RIB Software in sales, consulting, and support has been excellent. We’re confident the implementation will be a success,” concludes Michel Schneider.
