Deyle is one of the world's leading designers of international sports facilities. Based in Stuttgart, Germany, the company specialises in the design of stadia, bob and toboggan runs, ice rinks, speed skating circuits and themed water parks.

Since its founding in 1965, Deyle has developed an impressive portfolio of projects at many of the world's leading winter sports venues in Europe, the United States and Japan. The company designed the world's first artificially frozen bobsleigh run at the Königssee in Berchtesgaden in the German Bavarian Alps.

Amongst the firm's most prestigious projects are the design of bob and toboggan runs at the XX, XIV and XII Olympic Winter Games at Turin, Italy in 2006; at Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina in 1984 and at Innsbruck, Austria in 1976.

Deyle has been using STRATIS civil engineering software for more than 15 years. The company's first application of the software was for the design of the bobsleigh run at the Oberhof winter sports centre and health resort in Germany. Bend 12 of the bob run had to be rebuilt for safety reasons to widen the radius.

Since that time, STRATIS has proved its worth - from initial planning, design and engineering through to construction, invoicing and data management -  on a host of prestigious sports projects, including:

  • the artificially frozen leisure toboggan run on Mount Fuji near Tokyo in Japan
  • the bobsled and toboggan centre at Lake Placid in New York State, USA
  • the Winter Olympic bob, toboggan and skeleton run at Cesana in Italy
  • the biathlon arena at Oberhof, Germany for the 2004 Biathlon World Championships
  • the Umund extension to the regional excellence centre for toboggan racing in Winterberg, Germany
  • the modification of the Hockenheimring, home of the German Formula 1 Grand Prix.

The design of the €43 million bob, toboggan and skeleton run in the Cesana ski region of Italy for the 2006 Winter Olympics comprised eight right-hand and 11 left-hand bends and took two years to build. A 15-strong team of Deyle engineers worked on the detailed design of the 1,750 metre run as well as the integration of outlying and function buildings at a height of 1,600 metres.
